New membership applications are processed at each committee meeting held the first Wednesday of each month. Q – How much does it cost? A - £15 per year renewable in June each year. Q – But isn’t it a Conservative Club? A – No it is not a political club. The Club is affiliated to the ACC (Association of Conservative Clubs) and subject to the rules of the FSA (Financial Services Authority) any members joining the Club do not have to be a member of the Conservative Party and member’s details will certainly not be passed onto the Conservative Association. But by joining the Club any member is expected not to do anything that may be derogatory to the Conservative Party. Q – So who runs the Club? A – The Club has a main committee which is supported by various sub committees, including bar, catering, finance, entertainment and gardens. The committees are made up of ordinary members who volunteer their time. We encourage all members, particularly new members to join any committee where they feel they can offer help and/or experience. Q – So where do the profits go? A – It is run on a not for profit basis. So any excess that is made from trading is put back into the Club to improve the facilities, provide events or even by reducing drink prices and improving facilities. Annual accounts are approved by external auditors and monitored by the FSA.
